Staatsorchester Braunschweig repertoire will feature Mazepa, Tchaikovsky’s famous opera. This time the orchestra will perform the most beautiful parts of Mazepa in the form of a symphonic concert. Although the opera is converted into a symphonic piece, bearing in mind both the GMD’s and Srba Dinic’s opera experience, it will surely keep the beauty of Tchaikovsky’s oeuvre and the story of beautiful and tragic love that only Pushkin can tell.
In the second part of the concert, Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 15 in A-major will be performed. In addition to demonstrating Shostakovich’s creative maturity in the play of contrasts, the symphony also contains Rosini’s and Vagner’s themes which he skillfully used wishing to describe the course of a man’s life with its inevitable ups and downs. Srba Dinic and Staatorchester Braunschweig will perform this program on two consecutive days in Stadthalle.
