At the press conference today the management of Braunschweig Opera presented their new general music director – Srba Dinic. He is the first Serbian conductor in this function in Germany. He is already on familiar terms with the orchestra and the ensemble with two symphonic concerts and Andrea Chenier Opera under their belts. After months of negotiations involving 15 candidates, Dinic stood out as a leader whose experience and knowledge made him the most trustworthy with the ensemble. Some lavish opera productions are planned for the next seasons, including Don Carlos, Tosca, Elektra and symphonic music with select soloists. The first encounter with the audience, Gala Concert, is to be on the 5th June in Braunscheweig city park. Dinic will remain in the position of Generalmusikdirektor for the next five years. Plans are grand and ambitious, and everybody agrees on one point: the maestro will live up to the expectations of his faithful listeners and provide opportunities for budding artists and young audience to come closer in this most beautiful art.
Opera lovers have a new reason to visit the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Srba Dinic with the orchestra and choir will perform Mozart’s opera Cosi fan tutte, a piece about love, fidelity and fickleness of human feelings. The director Mauricio Garcia Losano will stage the story whose topic and comic plots from real life make it popular in the present time. Music is clearly the most valuable part of this opera. Mozart wrote it in his mature age and it is the third opera which he composed for libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. Their joint work made this opera the very pinnacle of the opera buffa genre containing merry and comic scenes, but also a satire of social relations and customs. All these elements will be musically demonstrated by Srba Dinic with his ensemble and the following singers as soloists: Silvia dalla Benetta, Isabel Stüber Malagamba, Patricia Santos, Orlando Pineda, Armando Piña and Jesus Suaste.

Led by Srba Dinic, the Teatro de Bellas Artes orchestra and ballet will join forces again to stage one of the most beautiful Shakespeare’s plays – A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This story has been an inspiration to many composers throughout history. Benjamin Britten composed music for opera, Frederick Ashton wrote an one-act ballet, but it was not before 1962 that George Balanchine did choreography for the homonymous music piece composed by Felix Mendelssohn. Moreover, he added parts from some other Mendelssohn’s works and thus with music and choreography rounded off this beautiful story of love and magic. The choreography on the Teatro de Bellas Artes stage is signed by James Kelly, while ballet dancers and musicians are aware that only with the help of Srba Dinic will they succeed in conveying jointly and equally the artistic beauty of this ballet to their audience.
